Questions & Answers
01/07/2009Dear investor,
Since the beginning of the year markets have shown short signs of recovery but also signs that this is far from being over.
The following Q&A provides you with questions asked by our investors and our answers to them. When new questions come up, we will add those for your information.
- Are my investments safe with Ikano ?
Your money is invested in a SICAV which is legally completely separate from the Ikano company, which is e.g. different from the money that you have in a savings account with your bank and is part of the bank's assets.
- Is there a chance that my investments will default because of what has happened with Lehman and other banks?
Ikano Funds SICAV, as UCITS III, is the best regulated and most transparant investment vehicle where your investments are spread among various managers and securities, e.g. the All Seasons Fund is invested with 15 managers which together have invested in more than 1,000 securities.
- Are my investments in Ikano Funds protected? You are invested in stocks and bonds all over the world?
Ikano Funds SICAV is safe in terms of legal vehicle, yet the sub-funds are exposed to market volatility and thus assets are subject to rise and fall in value over time. Ikano has adapted its strategy following the markets and now only invests with its Ikano All Seasons Fund when it sees upward potential, but does not invest in e.g. equities to diversify its risk. The remainder of the money is in highly liquid assets like cash and government bonds.
- Is there a chance that Ikano Fund Management will get into financial trouble or how are you protected against this?
Ikano FM is a family-owned company, not listed on the stock exchange, thus it is not directly submitted to the turbulence of the financial markets . It is part of the Ikano Group which is a well-diversified business, like real estate, insurance and retail.
